Marinas in Spain
A few days before the opening of the Barcelona International Boat Show, the biggest event of boating in Spain, we will analyze the health and importance of marinas in Spain along our coast.
On December 31, 2013, and according to the FEAPDT, these are some of the most relevant figures:
Almost 8,000 kilometers of coastline
452 nautical concessions
368 marinas
132,930 moorings
Approximately 60.85% of these ports are located in the Mediterranean, mainly concentrated in the Balearic Islands, Cataluña and Andalucía.
Cataluña clearly leads the market with 23.8% of moorings, followed by the Balearic Islands with 16.9%, and Valencia with 15.4%.
Specifically in this community, the number of moorings has increased over the past two decades. According to the “Pla de Ports de Catalunya”, nautical demand is 135 people per boat, this figures still lies below other Mediterranean countries such as Italy (71 people per boat) and Greece (103 people per boat), and that opens both growth expectations.
The boating industry in Catalonia joints about 66 companies with sales totaling 181 million euros annually and employs 1,852 workers.
Now , when everyone agrees to assert the importance of nautical tourism, it is recalled that according to CEACNA, 750,000 tourists visited Spain marinas, of which 60% came from foreign flag vessels.
Marina Grup, with own stand in Barcelona Boat Show, will look forward to read the report from Izando Marketing about the economic impact generated by the sale of boats and nautical services in the economy.
